Creepy shit

Fuck man, this is so fucking creepy:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident
A summary with copy/pasted excerpts from the wiki article:
The Dyatlov Pass incident resulted in the deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on the night of February 2, 1959. It happened on the east shoulder of the mountain Kholat Syakhl (Холат-Сяхыл) (a Mansi name, meaning Mountain of the Dead).
The lack of eyewitnesses has inspired much speculation. Soviet investigators determined only that "a compelling unknown force" had caused the deaths.

An examination of the four bodies which were found in May changed the picture. Three of them had fatal injuries: the body of Thibeaux-Brignolle had major skull damage, and both Dubunina and Zolotarev had major chest fractures. According to Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny, the force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high. He compared it to the force of a car crash. Notably, the bodies had no external wounds, as if they were crippled by a high level of pressure. One woman was found to be missing her tongue.[1] There had initially been some speculation that the indigenous Mansi people might have attacked and murdered the group for encroaching upon their lands, but investigation indicated that the nature of their deaths did not support this thesis; the hikers' footprints alone were visible, and they showed no sign of hand-to-hand struggle.[1]

Although the temperature was very low (around −25° to −30°C) with a storm blowing, the dead were only partially dressed. Some of them had only one shoe, while others had no shoes or wore only socks.[1] Some were found wrapped in snips of ripped clothes that seemed to have been cut from those who were already dead.

Journalists reporting on the available parts of the inquest files claim that it states:
  • Six of the group members died of hypothermia and three of fatal injuries.
  • There were no indications of other people nearby apart from the nine travelers on Kholat Syakhl, nor anyone in the surrounding areas.
  • The tent had been ripped open from within.
  • The victims had died 6 to 8 hours after their last meal.
  • Traces from the camp showed that all group members left the camp of their own accord, on foot.
  • To dispel the theory of an attack by the indigenous Mansi people, Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny stated that the fatal injuries of the three bodies could not have been caused by another human being, "because the force of the blows had been too strong and no soft tissue had been damaged".[1]
  • Forensic radiation tests had shown high doses of radioactive contamination on the clothes of a few victims.[1]
The final verdict was that the group members all died because of a "compelling unknown force". The inquest ceased officially in May 1959 as a result of the "absence of a guilty party". The files were sent to a secret archive, and the photocopies of the case became available only in the 1990s, with some parts missing.[1]

... Yeah. pretty creeped out by this. the fear of the unknown, of death by violent and mysterious circumstances.

Meh. Just meh.

Well.... got some of my results back. 59% Microeconomics exam (average around 60% iirc), 71% Statistics (average around 55%.. LOL) exam and 70% Management assignment (average like 60-65% I think). Meh. Also currently doing Accounting online practice set.... 20% complete with 83% average.

Meh.
Meh.
Meh.
Whatever.
Meh.
Whatever.

Motherfucking meh. Well I guess I'm doing above average but still... Distinction average overall still definitely possible but quite difficult. Is there really any point in trying.. Guess there is but just... meh. Just so demotivated right now.

Oh how I really wish I could click my fingers and gain a sudden burst of motivational energy. But that's not possible so I sit here on my desk typing this out while I should be doing actual work.

Well... in other news.. went to a restaurant today then a charity event. Restaurant had great food so my parents made an impulse decision to book 2x10 person tables for my grandmother's birthday function.. =D Sigh, only a few days left until the unveiling of the SGS3, the phone to rule them all.. HOLY SHIT IM SUCH A MATERIALISTIC CONSUMERIST TECHNO-BASTARD.

also went to the orthodontist today ,quite painless but he might have to FILE down my front teeth just a little to make them less "bumpy"... not looking forward to that shit although I guess it's worth it in the end.

Random bitties at the end:
Thoughts on ideal screen size on a smartphone (in inches)
Small hands: 3.5-4.2
Medium (majority of male hands, some female hands fall into this category): 4-4.7
Large, basketball player tier or close: 4.3-5
Of course, the thinner the phone, the larger the screen is allowed to be (eg. 11mm thick 4inch screen phone is approximately equal to 8mm thin 4.3inch screen phone).

It's been rumoured that the SGS3 has a 4.8inch screen. If true, that's ridiculously insane (unless the buttons are onscreen). Hope it has a screen around 4.4-4.7 inches.

Dream journal #1

So yeah, had a dream today so I wrote it all down on my phone as soon as I woke up:
"Dream: There is a serial killer (white male, clean businessman appearance), talk in puns (left behind = cuts the victims behind). Invites fort St friends to large skyscraper where there is a function centre (restaurant for weddings etc.) on top. instead of guests at the tables, it's his dismembered victims with body parts missing. X is able to understand the puns, goes up the elevators and sees the bodies, takes out a NotePad and starts drawing what they look like because pictures would be too traumatic. Woman with deep axe wound on forehead.

Comes back and shows us and we go up to investigate. Nothing there, restaurant is empty. pane of glass is missing, so you can jump all the way down. We walk towards it and look down. The end."

X is an actual person, name withheld :)

So... since the content of a dream is simply recycled experiences from one's conscious life, everything there is somehow anchored to reality. So let's start analysing:

*The serial killer is probably taken from my talks about them with rebecca. the fact that he's a white businessman type character is due to the backgrounds of many serial killers.
*Talking in puns... now I'm pretty stumped on that one. the riddler from batman?
*Skyscraper - associated with the businessman, maybe he works there for a large company. Possibly a subconscious manifestation of my future job (which might involve working in the CBD in a large skyscraper).
*Restaurant/function centre - drawn from my experiences at those places such as parties and weddings
BTW the elevators look like the ones I went through to get to a yumcha restaurant in the city
*Dismembered victims with missing body parts - who knows? maybe I read about a serial killer who did that..
*X drawing what he sees- draw my thing on my mobile, maybe that 30 day drawing challenge thing
*Deep axe wound - no idea
*Pane of glass missing - something is missing from my life? lol

yeah I know this is all bullshit and they might not mean anything at all... oh wells.
so... in this dream world of mine, what happened to the bodies when everyone went up there? what did the killer do with the body parts? why was the pane of glass not missing when the bodies actually were there? did the killer toss the bodies outside then jump all the way down himself? we couldn't see all the way down to the pavement so.. who knows... until next time when I re-enter the dream world and solve the mystery :D

Random thoughts and songs

So... yeah. Shit man, spent all of today sleeping in/browsing the internetz/procrastinating :( Everyday, the prospect of getting D average slips further and further away.. Oh, and another thing. You know in the two posts below how I said I'd stop drinking till 18? LOL, fuck that, drank half a jug of cider last week, going to drink more cider later today. That resolution should be amended to say "not getting caught intoxicated" instead of "not drinking" until I'm 18.
:)
Uhhh.. I'm just really typing whatever comes to mind right now. Firing from the hip. Shit man, got 2 mid session exams after the break. And have to spend most of this super dooper long weekend going places with my relatives, watching them get wasted with my father who hypocritically lectures me on the dangers of alcohol. LOL.

Well... laptop got repaired now, so that's a plus I guess. Whatever, I thought Asus had a reputation for quality... it's been repaired twice under warranty and it's not even a year old T_T. Man... the HTC One X and One S are released. Like wow, OP. Like I mean... my phone's still pretty awesome, but it's pretty much 2011 hardware running on 2012 software. Phones keep getting better every year. These HTC phones and the upcoming SGSIII are 2012 hardware running on 2012 software >.< guess I shouldnt be complaining but still, dayummmm.. jellly. Yes, maybe I'm just a materialistic, shallow guy who loves his technology.

I shall end this block of text with a quote from Ted Mosby from HIMYM:
"We've all been searching for the five doppelgangers, right? But eventually, over time, we all become our own doppelgangers, you know, these completely different people who just happen to look like us."

My only stuffed toy, year 6 :'( memories..

Fuck these songs are so motivating/empowering/nostalgic.
